Massimo S. Maida
He's living and working in Milan as a free lance director (live action e animation), illustrator and creative consultant. He studies animation cinema at National Institute of Art in Urbino and cinema direction at the School of Cinema Television and New Media of Milan. In 1996 for the Bozzetto Film he writes and directs the animation short Manuela, Claudia, Silvia, winner of the prize Fedic1997, and later included in the catalogue Animania - 100 di Cinema d’Animazione of the Mostra Internazionale del Nuovo Cinema. From 1998 to 2002 he’s hired as researcher and creative consultant at the McCann Lab, a laboratory of creative research of the advertising agency McCann-Erickson Italia. In 1999 and in 2005 he wins the grant prize Paesaggi Umani of the Filmmaker Festival of Milan with the shorts Acquario and Fili. In 2001 he writes, directs and produces Sotto di me, an experimental animation short for next generation mobile phones, which receives the special mention at the first edition of the Web tv Festival - Palazzo della Triennale in Milan, the second prize at the Future Film Festival in Bologna, and in 2005 is selected at the Anigma - International Festival of Novosibirsk in Russia. In 2001 he starts Bookshots, a multi-platform video format to promote, in a new and original way, reading and buying books. In 2003 he wins the Lorenz & The Family Beat Contest with the short Settembre. From 2004 to 2008 he works with Sky Italia as an editorial consultant and producer. In 2006 he makes the art video Film nella scatola: Nosferatu, art commission for the collective Scatola di montaggio, held at the Posteria, a venue of the Fondazione Mazzotta and later presented by Careof & Viafarini at FIAV - Centro d'arte contemporanea Santa Monica of Barcellona. In 2005 he writes and directs the short Ho avuto paura, art commision to promote in Italy the international event Hypegallery, promoted by HP. In Berlin, in 2006 he cures the multimedia workshop Remember Berlin promoted by Istoreco - Istituto di Storia Contemporanea e della Resistenza. In 2007 he writes, directs and produces the poetic documentary I cani credono ai ladri e agli spettri, later included in the international exhibition of video art Art Year Book curated by Renato Barilli. In 2008 he oversees the concept, direction and design of the animation opening theme for the production house ParcoFilm, requested for the screening of the film Il Divo by P. Sorrentino at the Cannes Festival in 2008. In 2008 he wins the contest Visual Identity Retequattro, within the Crossmedia Festival - More Than Zero.
